Elvis "Bo" Ottwell

Elvis “Bo” Ottwell, of Balch Springs, TX, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024. He was 91. He was preceded in death by wife, “Polly” Stevens Ottwell, and, previous, wife, “Jackie” Webb Ottwell. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ray Ottwell, of Dallas. He is survived by two grandsons, Jason Ottwell, of Dallas, and Joshua Ottwell (Kayla), of San Diego, CA, granddaughter Jearlene Talbert (William), of College Station, and nine great-grandchildren.
Born in Dallas, TX, he was a Texan through and through. His work ethic began early, caddying for golfers as soon as he was big enough to carry the clubs. His commitment to a good day’s work continued through an over 40-year career at Merck Pharmaceuticals. He loved playing table games with family, coon hunting, and dinner promptly at 5 pm. If you knew him, you know he was kind-hearted, easy to love, and often stubborn. His candid nature didn’t leave much to wonder about. He loved a good hug, good groceries, and good company.
He was a member of the local Cowboy Church and leaves behind a host of loved ones, friends, and neighbors who will never forget his fierce independence, easy laugh, and frequent visits. His was a rare breed of toughness and gentleness that drew those around him closer together. He will be missed.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 7, from 2-4 pm, at the Eastgate Funeral Home, 12973 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Garland, TX 75041.
Service, immediately followed by interment, will be Monday, December 9 at 2 pm, at the Long Creek Baptist Church, 501 Long Creek Rd, Sunnyvale, Texas 75182.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Long Creek Baptist Church, Sunnyvale, TX.

Prayers for your families during this time of mourning. Bo was the same age as my mother and he loved coming to visit her. He had a great sense of humor and always came to family events. He will be missed but remembered fondly!

Neighbor Balch Springs , Texas

Met Bo through my life mate Jerry Reid. Bo would come over and sit on the front porch visiting. He would pop up and say he had to go, never staying long. When he found out Jerry had cancer he wanted to mow his field for him. He was a very nice ok Texan for sure and will be very much missed on our street.
