Raymond Chapa

Raymond Chapa of Garland, Texas passed away the early morning of November 5, 2024.  Raymond was born on October 22, 1942 in Wylie, Texas, close to Lake Lavon, which at that time was being built.  Raymond had fought Diabetes and its complications courageously for many years.Raymond was gifted with artistic abilities.  He drew his favorite heroes like Superman, Batman, the Flash, and others. At school he was called upon to create and draw the school’s mascot, a Farmer.  His art work was displayed in the halls of Farmersville High School and on the football stadium during football games.  He also dedicated himself as a commercial artist in later years.  Another hobby Raymond had was playing the guitar and singing country songs at several spots in this area.

He is predeceased in death by his wife Effie (Lou) Chapa, brother Manuel Chapa, his parents, Eugenio Chapa, Sr. and Carolina Bocanegra Chapa, as well as a son, Ray Chapa.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa Chapa Simpson, a son-in-law, Doug Simpson; His brothers: Manuel Chapa, Gene Chapa, Jr., and Andrew B. Chapa.  Surviving him, too, are his sisters Vera Chapa Boles, Sophie Chapa Adkins, and Mary Chapa Perez.  Others include his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

May Raymond rest in peace in the presence of the Lord, who he trusted as his Savior.
