Jimmy "JD" Don Potter
Jimmy Don Potter known as JD to many, passed away Friday September 20, 2024. JD was born in Terrell Tx on August 27, 1969, to Larry and Karen Potter.
JD was a man with many traits. He started off working at the Dallas Morning Newspaper when he was sixteen. He then started working with his father on large equipment, soon after he became a mechanic at Sears. This gave him the tools he needed to start his own business known as “Extreme Remolding”. He ran his own company for many years and later settled down with the City of Dallas as a building inspector.
JD was a fun-loving guy; he was a people person, and everyone knew when he was there. JD loved fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle, watching drag races, playing pool. He played for the APA Pool league and won several times, two times making it all the way to Vegas for the finals. He was an avid motorcycle rider, rode in many toy drives, benefits, anything to help others. He LOVED the Dallas Cowboys rather they were winning or losing. If anyone asked him what he wanted, he would say “oh you know, a stack of hundred-dollar bills”.
He was preceded in death by his father Larry Potter, two brothers Chris and Steve Potter.
He was survived by his wife Brandi Potter, sons Jimmy Potter II and Levi, blended children- Tommy, Hailey, Sonny, Ashley, and Eric. Grandchildren Paige, Buster, Camden, Carson, Tori and great grandchild Riley. He was known to all of them as the American Ninja Warrior. No one could beat him.
He was also survived by his mother Karen Potter, sister Debbie and husband Craig, sister Julie and brother Billy, numerous nieces and nephews.
JD will be greatly missed. He is probably riding his motorcycle in Heaven or cheering on the Cowboys as we speak. If you knew him, I’m sure he would be telling us all to suck it up.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
