Sydney Mills Vail, of Rockwall, Texas died on March 9, 2023. She was predeceased by

her husband, Stephen M. Vail, and her father and mother, Emery and Nadine Mills, of

Tulia, Texas. She is survived by her beloved son, Kevin W. Janak, of Rockwall, a

brother, Larry Mills and wife Brenda, of Midland, Texas, and a sister, Linda O’Hara and

her husband James, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was fortunate enough to have two

nephews and their families: Adrian E. and Emily Mills, Ethan, Fisher, Lloyd, and

Cathryn of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and Anthony M. and Annamaria Mills, and Madeline

Zsuzsi and Alex of West Lynn, Oregon. Sydney taught for 36 years, 15 years in college,

and 21 in public schools. She retired from Garland ISD in January, 2003. She enjoyed the

Rockwall Art League, Yarn and Darn, and membership in the Democratic Party.
