Amelia Benavidez

On September 5, 2022, in the privacy of her home, Amelia Benavidez, passed peacefully at the age of 91.

Amelia is predeceased by her parents, Isidro and Ninfa Cantu, five brothers and one sister, and loving husband of 45 years, Heriberto (Beto) Benavidez. She is survived by sons, Marcial Benavidez and wife Joann of Apopka, Florida; Rolando Benavidez and wife Jae of Houston, Texas, and Herbert Benavidez of Dallas, Texas, as well as eight grandchildren. Also, she is survived by one brother, Roy Cantu and wife, Fina of Carrollton, Texas; sisters, Helen Lozano of Dallas, Texas, Aurora Jacinto of Grand Prairie, Texas, Consuelo Sauceda of Arlington, Texas and Betsy Rodriguez and husband, Greg, of Arlington, Texas.

After attending St. Anne's, Amelia married Beto. They enjoyed taking their sons to the beach, and she enjoyed many hobbies which included crafts, crocheting and sewing. Furthermore, she enjoyed assisting Beto with home projects. Outside the home she worked Southwestern Bell as a Telephone Operator, at Skaggs Drug Store and eventually retired from Fidelity Union Life after more than twenty years as a secretary.

Family and friends have fond memories of her generosity, humor and wit. She will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Amelia Benavidez to the American Heart Association or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
