Bo Chi Mui

Bo Chi Mui, 80, passed away on Christmas Eve surrounded by his wife and children on December 24th, 2025 at Medical City Hospital Las Colinas in Irving, Texas.

 

Bo Chi was born on July 4, 1946 in Guandong, China. Growing up in an era of radical social transformation in the aftermath of the Second Sino-Japanese war, he escaped with his mother and few siblings to Hong Kong in 1957. They then immigrated to Caracas, Venezuela in 1968, where he would meet his father for the first time. 

 

Bo Chi managed the family restaurant (HoKow) for over 35 years, where he was well known and respected for his leadership and work ethics within the Chinese community. He married Yuen Ching Li in 1977 and soon had his daughter, Heidy, and son, Hedison. Being true to his nickname, Bo Chi waited 16 years after having his son to then have his second son, Hervin.

 

In 2013, Bo Chi immigrated to the US and lived in Melbourne, Florida for a year before reuniting with all his kids in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his wife Yuen Ching Li, his children Heidy Mui (Husband Eric Acon), Hedison Mui (wife Samantha Mui), and Hervin Mui, and his grandchildren Esslyn Mui and Evyn Mui. 

 

Bo Chi is also survived by his second sister Ruth Fung (husband Eddie Fung), and his younger brothers Bo Leung Mui and Bo Man Mui. Bo Chi was preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers, one younger brother, and his oldest sister. 

 

Bo Chi was known for his integrity, generosity, and joyous approach to life. He loved dancing and singing, which he did without fail during birthday celebrations.

 

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, January 10, at Eastgate Funeral Home, 12973 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Garland, TX 75041.
