Lyndal Roger Lemonds

With deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, the family of Lyndal Roger Lemonds announces his peaceful passing on December 4, 2025, in Richardson, TX, at the age of 82. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (“Papaw”), great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and faithful friend. Known for his humor and mischievous spirit, Roger loved sharing an entertaining story or two with friends and family.

Visitation will be held at the Eastgate Funeral Home, 12973 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway, Garland, Texas, on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00pm. A brief graveside service will follow the next day, Tuesday, December 30, at 11:00am at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The procession lineup will be formed promptly at 10:45am; the lane number will be announced one day prior.

Roger was born June 23, 1943, in Glenwood, Iowa, to John “Jack” Lemonds and Esther Lemonds. After graduating from Glenwood High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965, stationed mainly in Texas and California. On November 28, 1963, Roger married the love of his life, Dorothy “Cookie” Tiller. They shared 62 wonderful years together.

Roger had a successful career in the telecommunications industry, but his true passions were building just about anything by hand, taking road trips with his wife and kids, and going on motorcycle adventures across America with friends and family, especially his brothers, Richard and John.

Roger is survived by his wife, Cookie Lemonds; his children Mark Lemonds, Chris Lemonds, and Shelley Loy; daughter-in-law Maria Lemonds; son-in-law Matt Loy; his grandchildren Jacob Avila, Ryan Loy, and Marie Loy; granddaughter-in-law Kassandra Avila; his sweet angel great-granddaughter Aly Avila; his brothers Richard Lemonds and John Lemonds; sister Diana Cotton; sisters-in-law Kim Lemonds, Suzie Lemonds, Beverly Lemonds, and Beverly Tiller; brothers-in-law Charlie Tiller and Joe Cotton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Lemonds and Esther Lemonds, and his brothers, Larry Lemonds and Neal Lemonds.

Roger embodied kindness, patriotism, and an unwavering devotion to family and friends. His warmth, humor, ingenuity, and wisdom will remain in our hearts forever.
