Cynthia Ingram Benefield

It is with great joy for her and sadness for us that we announce the passing of Cynthia Ingram Benefield on Sunday, May 5th, 2024.  She was born on September 26, 1954, graduating from Mesquite High School as a proud member of the class of 1972.  She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Ingram, her mother, Ora Dee Ingram and her brother, Steve Ingram.  She is survived by her son, Brandon Benefield, his wife, Jill and their daughter, Scout; son, Brian Benefield, his wife, Brooke and their children Allie, Berkley and Knox; her sister-in-law, Debra Rose Bradley; and dear nephew Matt Ingram, his wife, Carrie, and their children Chance, Ethan and Maisie, along with a rich and full extended Ingram family.  She spent the last few years of her life living happily in Cooper, Texas, surrounded by her beloved Ingram clan, as well as many friends who felt like family at Charleston Methodist Church.

Although she bravely battled cancer for several years, she did so quietly, and her death still comes as a shock to many. Cynthia did not want to make her life or death about her illness and suffering, and she instead spent her time focusing on what brought her joy — holding babies, cheering on her favorite kids at their sporting events, and encouraging and supporting those she loved. Her presence will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date to allow those closest to her time to process and grieve.

Condolences

I worked with Cynthia at Hanby Elementary. We were Kindergarten teachers together and doorway neighbors for several years. Her passion and love for the kids and the job amazed me and kept me going. We had many deep, meaningful conversations that I will forever cherish. She loved the Lord, and it fills my heart with happiness to know that she is in His care now. She is missed!! 💚

I'm heartbroken over Cynthia's passing. I and so many others always considered Cynthia such a combination of beauty and intellect. Even when Cynthia was doing very lighthearted things like cheerleading or being voted Class Favorite, she was always dignified and sophisticated, and this I so admired. A special memory is the year I first got to know Cynthia, 6th grade, it was the year of the TV Batman phenomenum. Playing Batman to her Catwoman in class skits that we did under the watchful eye of fantastic teacher Mrs. Watson was unforgettable for a Florence Black Elementary sixth-grader! Whenever I would run into Cynthia through the years she was the same refined, glowing person, serious and dedicated to her professions and calling as an eventual teacher of children. Cynthia is one of those personalities and true beauties who will forever be enshrined in the Mesquite, Texas Hall of Fame of Most Influential. Love and admiration for Cynthia's parents, leaders and builders in the Glory Days of Mesquite's Boom Years of growth and Mesquite's greatest suburban success era. I believe an Angel carried Cynthia----Home---and she's with her joy-filled parents and brother.

Please know from the Boone family our prayers are with your family. Cynthia is a very special person in that she was always loving and caring even beyond her beauty. She had such a wonderful presence and rather than reflecting on the bad attributes of others instead she was inspired to see the good attributes in others. She will forever own a special place in our hearts. Ricky Bob Boone.
